Irma Janssen Portrait Shoot

I'm continuing to do more portrait shoots in Saigon and loving it. There's nothing like working with someone one on one, gaining their trust, communicating with them and at the end to see the person happy with how you've perceived them. That feeling of relief and sense of accomplishment makes me look forward to the next shoot.

Here's a recent shoot of my friend, the Dutch exercise maven Irma Janssen. She's great at what she does and her confidence and vibrant personality comes straight through. We worked on a series of pictures for the upcoming revamp of her website.

Sofitel Saigon Shoot

Here are some pictures from the test shoot at the Sofitel Saigon I shot in April via Keen a branding agency in Bangkok whose Creative Director Pierre Vermeir worked on the brilliant branding for one of my favourite restaurants: Roast Restaurant in London where my friend Lawrence Keogh is the executive chef. Small world!

Nomad Clothing Bangkok Shoot

I got to do a quick half-day shoot while in Bangkok early this month. What fun! It was for Nomad a small boutique selling bohemian style clothing at Amarin Plaza in Bangkok. You can find their page on Facebook by searching Nomad Clothing Bangkok.

Special thanks goes to documentary photographer Patrick Brown for providing the location.

Looking Back: 2006 - First Time on Travel Channel

Almost exactly five years ago, I was contacted by a TV researcher at Tremendous Entertainment, working on the Taiwan segment of the Travel Channel's Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. Many exchanges went by and rather than getting the gig as a translator, I wound up with an invitation to be an on-camera guest. I was fortunate to work with Tremendous on three more projects after that, a pilot for my own show, Bizarre Foods Holiday Special and Bizarre Foods Bangkok. I'd like to share the video of when it all began.

A Gentleman's Saigon in Prestige

Mr Whybrow inspired this story two years ago when I thought how a city can be so completely different if you're a man. What do men like that's of quality and what can Saigon offer? Prestige finally commissioned the story. Here it is in this month's issue of Prestige Hong Kong. Text by Gemma Price.

Travel+Leisure Saigon Mixologist

"Hey, Markus, how can we do a story that'll include you?" I'd said to my favourite bartender six months ago. Here's the story, appearing in Travel+Leisure SEA's March 2011 issue.

Gemma Price Portraits--Saigon

I did a portrait shoot of writer Gemma Price last week on the rooftop of my building in Saigon. We used what space and props we had.

I love women who come to shoots perfectly made up and ready. She was great & I'm looking forward to shooting her again for my style blog Asia Street Style as a featured stylista.

Co-Hosting Premiere of BEST VACATIONS IN THE WORLD

I co-hosted a Taiwan Tourism film alongside American TV host JD Roberto last November. The premiere episode of KTLA's Best Vacations in the World will be screened on 20 February at the Dining Terrace of the Westfield Mall Century City in Los Angeles. For most of you, like myself, we can view it on KTLA's website.

Picture taken of the film crew by our brilliant director and editor Darryl Kinson.

From time to time I'm invited for interviews in magazines. This one is currently directly in the seat pocket in front of your JetStar seat all of December.
