The Jack Picone and Stephen Dupont Documentary Photography Workshop

I'm attending the Jack Picone and Stephen Dupont Documentary Photography Workshopthis week in Luang Prabang. The two veteran documentary photographers and Ed Giles are giving me a buzz from the challenging course. I highly recommend it to serious amateurs and professionals. The critiques have been immensely useful and the tight time frame to produce a reportage within a week forces us to think and act quickly, as one would on assignment.

Portrait of BB

In April I got to shoot portraits of Bernhard Bohnenberger, or "BB" , President of Six Senses Resorts & Spas. What presence and personality! I was smiling for days thinking back to the energy BB put into the shoot as we moved from room to room at the Pacific City Club in Bangkok. Here's the shot he chose to use for the press release.

SacredEarth Vietnam Shoot

I love styling and shooting for my English client SacredEarth who manufactures mosaic wrought iron furniture. Contemporary style that's absolutely classic and elegant. Before every shoot we explore new concepts and I'm always encouraged to experiment. Love it!

The Importance of a Great Teacher: Jack Picone

Award-winning photographer Jack Picone generously spent three hours critiquing my personal project: Chungking Mansions while I was in Bangkok last month.

I had edited the body of work down to a small batch, but Jack generously insisted on seeing every image. My session with him brought back memories of having great teachers in my life: those who can look at your work and undo what sits annoyingly tangled in your subconscious.

In the three hours, I gained direction for my book project, saw what images I still needed and have a clear outline for the book. He told me exactly why an image worked or didn't, all the while remaining encouraging. I left feeling positive and focused.

I highly recommend The Jack Picone and Stephen Dupont Documentary Photography Workshops to serious amateurs and professional photographers.

My Interview With American TV Host Mike Siegel (picture grabbed from his website)

Travel Tales: Comedian and TV host Mike Siegel (TBS, HGTV) sits down to a lighthearted chat with his friends to hear their best (and worst) international travel stories. Every week Mike welcomes a different guest (some famous, some not) to hear their true tales from lands far away.

Mike took the time to record our conversation while he was in Ho Chi Minh City. Here's Episode 23 of his popular podcast Travel Tales.

Eating with Andrew Zimmern in Bangkok Full Segment

Just found this on Youtube! Eating with Andrew Zimmern is always great fun even though at times it's like jumping off a cliff. He is so enthusiastic, knowledgeable and adventurous about food it's contagious!

Here we are eating together for the third time in Bangkok, starting 10:00 into the video here and finishes in Chinatown at this link. Bon Appetit!

Some clips from the video

Not sure if I liked what I was chewing

Full Chinese banquet at 8am

"Spit it out!" He'd just bitten off half of a vegetarian shrimp from a market stall. I flicked the other half off his hand.
